It was at Hillsborough Community College where JC first took a photography class. This changed his career path from sports publicity to photojournalism and upon completion of his two year degree he transferred to the University of Miami where he majored in both photojournalism and history.

It was at Miami where JC’s sports shooting career started, becoming the primary sports shooter for both the student paper and yearbook. It was this work that led him to being hired as the Miami Hurricanes Team Photographer in 1995. He also covered the Miami Dolphins for Dolphin Digest from 1993-99, and was a contributor to sister publication Football News. He started contributing to NFL Photos in 1998 and covered a game nearly every week for the league from 2000-2003. In 2004, he became the primary Team Photographer for Florida Atlantic University, along with his duties at the University of Miami.

JC’s work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, Street and Smith’s, ABC Television Network, HBO, and numerous other newspapers and magazines. The 2014 documentary “The U: Part 2” featured over 100 of his still images from his years at the University of Miami.
